Lang Son authorities hold dialogue with businesses
The People’s Committee of Lang Son province held a dialogue with businesses and investors on August 12.
Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Pham Ngoc Thuong chaired the event.
The dialogue was attended by Hoang Van Nghiem, Standing Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council, and other senior officials from the provincial People’s Council and People’s Committee.
Representatives from local departments and the People’s Committees of local districts and cities along with delegates of nearly 100 businesses, investment projects and cooperatives across the province were also present at the event.
According to the provincial Department of Planning and Investment, 178 new firms were established in the province with total registered capital of over 2 trillion VND (86 million USD) in the first six months of 2019, raising the total number of local businesses to 2,885.
The provincial People’s Committee approved proposals and granted investment licences to 12 new projects worth 342 billion VND and allowed 16 existing projects to add 634.7 billion VND to their capital.

As of June 30, 2019, the province approved investment policies and granted investment licences to 349 projects worth 32.42 trillion VND (1.39 billion USD) in total.
The provincial Department of Planning and Investment received 66 opinions and petitions submitted by businesses and cooperatives. Relevant departments and sectors have made written replies to 60 opinions. Four petitions relating to land clearance, planning and adjustment of investment items are under consideration by relevant agencies, while two others on taxation law and policy are awaiting guidance from the General Department of Taxation and Ministry of Finance.
At the dialogue, opinions voiced by local firms and cooperatives centred on land for production, land clearance, access to bank credit and human resource training.
Officials of departments and People’s Committees at the district level gave explanations on issues raised by businesses and cooperatives which fell within their power, while taking note on those that were beyond their capacity for later response.
Vice Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Pham Ngoc Thuong said businesses play an important part in the local economy while investors are an indispensable part of the province.
He urged local departments and People’s Committees at district and city levels to seriously acquire opinions of businesses and investors as well as raise their sense of responsibility and seek solutions to promptly remove any obstacles, thus creating the best possible conditions for businesses to develop.
Businesses and investors should further promote their self-reliance and proactively address difficulties, the official said, urging them to enhance their management capacity and study thoroughly legal regulations, guidelines, orientations, mechanisms, and policies of the province when making investment and business decisions.
He also asked them to ensure the effective implementation of investment projects, contributing to the local socio-economic development.
