Discussing to prepare for the 2020 high school graduation exams

(LSO) – On July 8, the Provincial Steering Committee for the high school graduation exam for 2020 held a meeting to discuss the exam preparation. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Nguyen Long Hai, Vice Chairman of Lang Son’s Provincial People’s Committee, Head of Steering Committee.

At the meeting, the leaders of the Provincial Department of Education and Training reported the draft plan for the exam organization and human distribution.

Accordingly, in this exam, there are a total number of 40 schools in which students registered to take the exam. In particular, there are 8,012  12th graders (decreasing 223 candidates compared to 2019) and free candidates is 806 (an increase of 209 candidates compared to 2019).

There are 5,043 candidates registered to participate in the exam for graduation only (accounting for 57.2%); 3,232 candidates registered for high-school graduation and college admissions (36.7%); 534 candidates registered to use the test results for consider university and college admissions only (accounting for 6.2%). They will take part in the exams in 21 testing units across the province.

According to the Steering Committee’s plan, from July 15 – 20, 2020, the Department of Education and Training will screen candidate’s profiles and finalize their registered information. It is scheduled that training workshops on examination and testing inspection for leaders, council secretaries and inspection officers will be finished before August 4, 2020. On 8th August 2020, paper tests will be transported and delivered to the testing units. The high school graduation exam in 2020 is scheduled to start from August 9-10, 2020. Examiners work from August 12 to 26, 2020. On August 27, 2020,  test results will be released.

At the meeting, the Steering Committee discussed a number of  key issues including student reviews for the tests, planning and preparing test facilities, traffic, communication, security and safety.

Concluding speech at the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Long Hai, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee of the high school graduation exam in 2020 mainly agreed with the preparation plan for the exam. He also noted that members of the Steering Committee need to coordinate well in order that the examination will be organised safely, seriously and honestly including ensuring medical and epidemic conditions in the area where the examination is held; planning to prevent negativity at testing units; organizing the printing of paper tests thoroughly; enhancing the qualities of  training workshops on inspection and supervision for officials and teachers .
